Worldtour diary- Part 2

DIARY PART 2 ,07th - 17th of October

Hi all!

Once again a small update about my traveling, exactly about the time between the 6th and 17th October.
(
@ Alex: Could you pls be so kind to safe all my parts in a seperate document,,,,Love u ,-) )

What did I do??
In the last 10 days I founded the Jochen Kemmer- Peruvian fanclub.
Being on the radio, in the newspaper and on dozens of pictures I´m now thinking of a model career over here...
If it doesn´t work, I can still try to start a career as a bargain hunter.
At least, I get loads of experience in this.
Life and "shopping" functions a little bit different here.
Basically, you go to a travel agency..they tell you a rediculous high price, e.g. 35 USD for a 1 day trip to anywhere.
And then...you just start to talk shit, means you tell them that another person offered you the same shit for 25 USD.
Totally astonished, the other one lowers his price to 30 USD and tells that the others have a bad service...
After a little bit crying and pretending that you will buy somewhere else, that you are a poor student and that he should give you a special special price....the guy finally calls his imaginery boss who....after a hard discussion...comes, chatts with you for ten minutes and gives you a special special price of 25 USD, but just because you´re such a nice guy and just for you. Nobody else will get this price, really and please, don´t tell sb else, my friend.
Allright...the games continues and after 2 hours you land at about 22 USD....The problem...you never really know what you get...
Bargaining can be big fun...sometimes it´s just tiring and definetely...business is one of the points I do not like too much over here.
Its just dishonest and takes too much time.
But..nevertheless...you know...sometimes you can buy some amazing things.
E.g. a 4 day trek in the Andes. Walking through the mountains of 5000, feeling, seeing the lagunas, forests..feeling really the nature , shitting in the forest, drinking lakewater...just GREAT.
After 5 more days around the Cordillera Blance I headed off back to Lima.
And ...2nd time over here...I just wanted to quit the city as quickly as possible. Just too much dust.

My race continued...and after each one day in Pisco, Ica and Nazca, seeing the diversity of Peru (from Pinguins and sealions to the desert and , I just arrived now back to the MOUNTAINS.
Arequipa and its "alentours" are calling me..
After mountain biking, sandboarding and buggyriding, I´m now looking forward to do some rafting.
You´ll get some more news soon

Worldtour diary- Part 1

DIARY PART 1: 29 September – 07th October 2006

Worldtour 1st week

Hi all!

After my mail from last Friday apparently got lost anywhere, just a new try...informing you about my life (shortly). Please check my homepage
www.little-jochen-around-the-world.de under "Worldtour" - "on My way" - "Peru"
and my images under
www.imagestation.com/members/Jochen.Kemmer
for some updates, relativeley regular ( Im just uploading some pictures once again)
The next days, I will do some trekking in the mountains around Huaraz (The Andes, Peru) and wont be able...first to wash myself ...second to read my mails.
Next possibility on Wednesday morning.
Nevertheless I would be happy to get your news...
thanks for your few sms...
Of cours I am missing JSP more than anything else ,-)
Although I havent spoken to you, I heard that you´ve found sb to replace the inreplacable?!??!
In each case, I have a better life now...

To make it short:
ITS JUST GREAT here!
Although I have already seen a few towns now (Lima, Cajamarca, Chiclayo, Trujillo and now Huaraz)...I feel much more impressed about "the people" than about the sights.
Of course, its amazing to see temples, which date 500 years before Christ...of course its amazing to discover the different ancient Peruvian cultures....but its not that what makes me really feel great...
Its more about the people, who are just soooooo friendly...

Traveling for my first 5 days alone, having not seen any other European or white guy...I really feel in another world.
Heading out of a bus, rushing in a group of pupils...ane everybody crying, shouting...wanting to make a picture with the "Gringo"...
that is nevertheless quite strange...
I was nearly as much shocked as the Peruvians seeing cows on one of the few farms in Peru...
What else...
Having spent most of my time chatting a bit with everybody...I finally got an invitation for marriage of a 38-old girl...
By the way...I didnt accept ,-)
Besides,,,,its just so "funny" the way you get just to cheap pricing ( a hostal for 3 EUR), showering cold...or often not, sleeping in a bus...
But it´s just great!!!
AS I´ll have a hard day in front of me tomorrow, I´ll head to bed now!
Wish you all the best and hope you read some more news on my homepages..
