17 05 08 Nürnberg - Schalke

34.Spieltag, Frankenstadion zu Nürnberg.
Fanfreundschaftsspiel FCN- S04 0:2

03-04 05 08 Haifa & back to Europe

Yesterday I eperienced the great side of Shabbath....resting, real family feeling, good food...
the bad thing about shabbath - at least if you re traveling- theres not such a thing like public transport and the majority of the religious people just dont drive a car...
so...i d took me a little bit longer to pass the 80km from Tiberias to Haifa....
still....hitchhiking is a fun thing, is cheap ...and relatively efficient...
walking through the city of haifa from 10 am to pm was nice.Terrific views from the hill over the gardens, walking through the different quarters (german colony, arabic quarter, jewish quarter)...and realizing that its possible to respect each other betwee arabic and jewish...at least in this part of the country...
unfortunately the holiday finishes kind of like it started...with a big mess.
getting my wallet stole (with credit card, money, bank card)...didnt make life that comfortable...but luckily there are great people in the world....
at the worst couchsurfing eperience i had so far (staying at a girls place whos house looked more rubbish than anythingi had ever seen before in my life) i met another couchsurfer who was so gently to borrow me some money...
so i should at least be able to make my way on sunday morning to tel aviv to take the flight hometo europe, heading directly to work in zele, close to brussels on monday morning....
and the summary of this holiday???
soooooon

01 05 08 Tsfat & Nazareth

to keep it short this time.
tsfat is a nice place full of colourful cobble-stone streets, tons of synagogues and jews wearing the 'full equipment' (black dresses and hats even though it's 35 degrees)....if they like it...

nazareth had more to offer for my interest...
some nice souks (i always do love walking through arabic markets!!!) , a mixture of cultures (christian, moslems, as well a few jews)...and some holy sights (the church where god announced maria to be pregnant with jesus)....
topping all that with the fact that spent one again some nice hours with shiran...
and realizing that israeli supermarkets suck as much as french do (dirty and slow!!!!!)

02 05 08 Tiberias

the second travel week definetely is more relaxed as the first one....
taking it easy in tiberias, a city which is nice, has a nice beach promenade, but no major interesting sights (ok,some mosques, some graves of rabbis...but besides????)
so i stayed a couple of hours on the beach front (if you can all some stones like this....cos all nice beaches are privatized and charge 10euro entrance fee...too much for me of course), got biten by a snake....just before......HIGHLIGHT AHEAD
Shabbath
finally i head my religious experience over here.
thanks to shiran, i could participate in their usual shabbath celebration.
shabbath, which starts friday with sunset and ends saturday with sunset marks the 7th day in the jewish week, the day where god rested after the creation of the world in 6 days....
so....in our days, shabbath is meant to be a day for resting. not working.
perhaps i dont necessarily can understand personally all details for me (like the fact that switching on a light is considered as work and so forbidden on shabbath), but i strongly agree that this is a thing which misses in our christian world.
We do NOT take the time any more to just rest, relax and just stay together in family.

Thanks again Shiran and family for this interesting insight!!!

30 04 08 Sea Genezareth

walk on water

'I would walk on water....just to be with you...walk on water...just"

nice song....and entirely describing this day around sea genezerath.
firstly...i was mainly heading to the northern part of the country just to see shiran again ( pierre d, you remember the mail i sent during my worldtour about 'my israeli loves', ,-) ....stilll stays the same, men...i m always sane)....i would nearly do everything for her...
secondly....i mean...the genezareth is known for loads of jesus miracles...such as...yes...walking on water....but as well making enough food for 5000 people out of 5 breads...

Visiting some nice churches as well as a museum ehibiting 'jesus fisherboat'...was nice....but the nicest part was definetely the way i did it....
cycling around the lake just gives you a totally different feeling then driving in a bus, just great.
and....just hilarious - have a look at the pics- is the mount of beautitudes....a chapel surrounded by some amazingly beautiful gardens...really a place where should bring your love to propose her a wedding....but...i think i have to come back for that at some point ,-)

27-29 04 08 Eilat

and suddenly there it was again. the strange feeling of traveling alone...
Alex left me to take his flight back to Europe and I was sitting in a bus whamped with military heading to their camp after their passover holidays.
bus late for 1 1/2 hours....judy firstly not responding my calls...
so...what to do?
remember padi? do things, go places, meet people...
arriving in eilat on sunday mornin, i quickly checked in a hostel and booked some diving ,-)
so, the 2 days in eilat were filled with
1) diving
2) walking around the surrounding hills
3) wondering why the beaches around eilat have such a high reputation (i mean, they are allright, but i would prefer most of all french beaches to them)
4) meeting up judy (jipieeee)

as i said....eilat is allright, but neither a place where i would like to spend some longer holidays (too posh...but ...hm ....the sexiest girls in the country ,-)....really hot pants)...nor would I want to live here.....though...whatever it is, wherever it is....
beach or mountains....??? i d always chose mountains....i just LOVE the struggle in the heat heading up the hill!!!!
...as i 'love' missing a bus and changing my plans again and again ,-)
leaving eilat on tuesday early evening i made another stopover in jerusalem, couching again at enosh's place, just arriving right for scholes terrific goal at the pub...
short night and...off it goes again
